Effective January 1, Washington Township transitioned our community alerting system from the previous NIXLE platform to a new Morris County-wide alerting system called Rave Alert.

Resident registration is required to continue receiving advisories from Washington Township Office of Emergency Management (WT OEM).  Please read the attached step-by-step instructions for registering (click here).

Paving of the following Township roads is planned for 2018:

  • Cindy Lane, in its entirety, .31 mile, milling and base repairs scheduled to begin 6/19 for approximately three days. Road will be passable but please proceed with caution. Paving anticipated for 6/22 or 6/25 dependent on weather.COMPLETED
  • East Springtown Road, from Camp Washington Road to Naughright Road, .75 mile, during June. Vehicular access will be limited for one to two days for milling and paving during which time detours will be in place.COMPLETED
  • Old Farmers Road, beginning at East Mill Road.  COMPLETED

Oil and Chip is planned for West Springtown Road (1.52 miles) and West Valley Brook Road (1.59 Miles). Portions of Reservoir, Frog Hollow and Tall Timber will also be oil and chipped.

The County plans to pave East Mill Road from Schooley's Mountain Road to East Valley Brook Road, 2.4 miles, September 17, 2018.

Exhaust from backup generators, both portable and stationary, contains a high level of carbon monoxide (CO) gas, which can be dangerous or even fatal if inhaled.

  • Read and follow the operator's manual closely before operating your generator.
  • Locate the generator outside of your home and far away from windows, doors and vents.NEVER LOCATE A GENERATOR INSIDE YOUR HOME.
  • Direct exhaust away from windows, doors and vents.
  • Do not operate a generator in partially enclosed spaces, even if using fans or opening doors and windows for ventilation.
  • Install CO detectors/alarms throughout your home to ensure you are aware of the presence of CO gas. You cannot see, smell or taste CO.
