| David Kent, a member of Boy Scout Troop 236 in Long Valley, created a Memory Garden for the Seeing Eye Guide Dog Organization in Morristown, New Jersey for his Eagle Project.
The project involved turning an unused alley into
a beautiful garden space where students from the Seeing Eye,
who are blind, could come to meditate and mourn the loss of their
Seeing Eye dog, due to either retirement or death.
The project
involved clearing and cleaning up the space, researching and
installing student-safe plants, assembling and installing a
fountain and benches, and painting shutters and a door to enhance
the area. This project, which required more than 200 man-hours,
was accomplished with the help of scouts from his troop, friends,
neighbors, and staff from the Seeing Eye and was completed
in the fall of 2007.
