Schooley's Mountain Lodge on Camp Washington
Road was the scene for one of the largest Girl Scout
Gold Award Ceremonies seen in New Jersey. Twelve young
women from the surrounding area were earned Gold Awards
for their community based projects.

Erica Fedderly
& Claire Madaras, Troop 78, collected
donations and supplies by placing collection boxes
around town and organized a benefit talent show at
West Morris Central High School. Erica & Claire then
brought the items to soldiers recovering at the Naval
Hospital in Bethesda Maryland.
Mary Cullen, Troop
87, initiated a Lacrosse
program for women at her High School, Morris Catholic.
The success of the program was measured by the success
of the JV team in their first year of competition, 8-1
Kimberly Escobar,
Troop 87, rehabilitated
the Washington Township Teen Center (The "Fuzzbox").
Fresh paint, nail gun and effort transformed several
of the rooms into a teen-friendly place.
Katherine Perry,
Troop 87, designed
and executed a Drama Class for the Washington Township
Recreational Camp. Katherine introduced the campers to
theater and music and organized a talent show for the
last day of the camp.
Jennifer Skiba,
Troop 87, organized
a program for children in day care where they learned
how to swim. The program was five weeks in length, and
the students learned the basics of floating, swimming,
and four different strokes.
Emily Forrest,
Troop 92, coordinated
Washington Township Educational Foundation's book drive
for used children's books. The books collected were distributed
to the Township's Elementary and Middle School libraries.
Alyson Kenny,
Troop 92, created a promotional
video for the Morris County Arts Workshop, a non-profit
organization located in Chester, NJ. Alyson has been
a teacher at Morris County Arts Workshop for over two
years.
Kaitlyn Sniffen,
Troop 92, built a bocce
court at Rock Spring Park for the Senior Citizen Center.
Katie oversaw the planning, fund raising, Township approval,
scheduling and carpentry.
Emily Wizorek,
Troop 92, performed a
"facelift" on the basement of the Senior Center located
at Rock Spring Park. Emily formulated a color scheme,
obtained the necessary materials, and patched, primed,
painted and decorated the basement, much to the satisfaction
of the seniors.
Lauren Gregory,
Troop 89, oversaw a
project where she traveled to summer camps where children
were asked to write letters to soldiers serving overseas,
and then the letters were forwarded to an organization
for distribution.
Valerie Reimer,
Troop 89, initiated
a project titled "Sports for All". Valerie collected
"gently used" sports equipment, inspected, cleaned, sorted,
stored and distributed the equipment to an after school
program in Dover, NJ
