Washington Township Recreation is sponsoring a full day adventure bus trip of shopping dinning and a show in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Lancaster PA on Saturday, November 10, 2018.  Bus leaves the Senior Center, located at RSP/35 East Springtown Road, Long Valley at 8:30am and will return approx. 8:00pm. 

Show starts at 3pm which gives us plenty of time to shop at “Rockvale Outlets,” “Pennsylvania’s favorite outlet mall, with more than 70 brands featuring high-end and premium brands you love!” “When you’re ready to take a break from shopping and grab lunch, you’ll find nine restaurants conveniently located right inside the outlet mall complex.”                        

Witness the magic and splendor of this holiday celebration as AMT presents "The First Noel," featuring wondrous costumes, astonishing dancers, breathtaking sets, and all the endearment of a perfect fireside family moment! Bask in beautiful snowscapes and cherish the stories of spirit and love as we bring all your favorite sights and sounds to the stage. This year's all-new holiday show features your favorite seasonal and sacred songs - songs brought to life by marvelous vocal talent from across the country, accompanied by their masterful AMT Orchestra.

Upon your return all will receive a Signature lunchbox meal from the well-known, HoneyBaked Ham Catering & Cafe of Lancaster to enjoy on the ride home.

Nonrefundable fees for the tickets in the left rear mezzanine seating section are  $60 for Residents and $65 for Non Residents. Tickets are sold on first come basis. Fall Yoga classes are now forming at the Washignton Twp Senior Center and is for ages 14-99.  For a decade or more, doctors and other health practitioners have been recommending yoga to their patients to manage stress or depression or to serve as complementary self-care for people with back pain, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, cancer and other medical conditions.The hour yoga classes are suitable for everyone, from the absolute beginner to a more seasoned practitioner, and will consist of a series of strengthening, toning, relaxing breath and meditation exercises.

“Sometimes the most dangerous situation is the one we didn’t prepare for. Self-defense is defined as the right to prevent suffering force or violence through the use of a sufficient level of counteracting force or violence.” There are 4 Self-defense & Safety tips all people should know!  The first one is to enroll in a Self-Defense class.   Washington Township Police Department and Recreation, would like to introduce a “Self-Defense Class” to adults and seniors.

This class will demonstrate physical techniques, security tips, and how to avoid potentially dangerous situations.   Instructors, Sergeant Brian Bigham & Detective John Wuetemburg will demonstrate helpful information that teaches a mix of physical skills and life lessons.  This FREE course is offered on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 1 pm.  It will take place at the Senior Center, 35 East Springtown Road. We only have limited space available so register before September 17, 2018.  Must be pre-registered to attend by filling out a registration form  and a hold harmless agreement.  The forms can be emailed to [email protected] or faxed to (908) 876-0029.

Fall Fitness & Exercise Classes

Where: L.V. Senior Center (Rock Spring Park)

Circuit Craze Fitness Class – Total body workout circuit style.  Maximize calorie burn and total body training. Circuits Craze is a fun and fast-paced class designed to get your heart pumping and keeps you engaged. This is done through a series of full body circuits or stations that are a mix of cardio and strength training, no longer than a minute each. Exercises are changed week - to-week to keep the class exciting. This class is great for anyone and everyone, for there are always ways to modify the exercises so everyone can participate. For this class you will need to bring some equipment- 2 medium-weighted dumbbells/weights (5, 6, or 7 lbs. each). Instructor: Karen Leyson

Let’s Move w/Cardio Dance – Upper body strength and core work to increase strength for daily tasks. We will grapevine, samba, sashay and more! The easy-to-follow program allows anyone any age to perform the moves. For this class you will need a set of light dumbbells 3-5lbs and a yoga mat. Instructor: Kim Rainforth

Low Impact Strength & Cardio Interval Training – AWESOME way to strengthen the entire body. We will strengthen and tone our muscles. We will work our cardiorespiratory endurance. All of this will be done in intervals! We will be in motion the entire hour! For this class you will need to bring some equipment-2 medium-weighted dumbbells (5, 6, or 7 lbs. each), and a yoga mat. Focus Fitness – This fitness class will focus on a different part of your body each week. The focus will be total body one week, then upper body, core, lower body, stability and strength as well as improving your cardiorespiratory endurance along the way. The focus and workout will change weekly. All you need to join in on the fun is a mat and a set of medium weight dumbbells. Instructor: Karen Leyson

Beginner Chair Yoga-  Our beginner class is designed for those who are unable to or prefer not to get on the floor but would like to learn the basics of alignment, breaths, and how to move the body safely and mindfully. All of this while comfortably either sitting in or standing by a chair as a supportive prop with plenty of modifications as necessary and time for questions and demonstrations. Expect to move, breathe, open up the large muscle groups, and feel empowered and refreshed afterward. You may find muscles you never knew you had!

Chair Yoga is a eleven week program and will be held on Thursday’s from September 20 – December 6, 2018 at Washington Township Senior Center, Long Valley from 1:30pm-2:30pm.  There is a non-refundable fee of $120 before September 14, 2018.

Program Registration Procedure

You may register in in person, online or by mail.  The Recreation office is open Monday– Friday 8am-4pm (except summer hours). A registration form must be properly filled out, signed and submitted with your payment and also when processing payments online(receipt must be attached).  For more information please click on the link:  Procedure

Refund Policy

There are NO REFUNDS on any of our programs except for the following:

Full refunds will be issued for any program cancelled by the Recreation Dept.

Refunds will be given for medical issues related to that activity when accompanied by a doctor’s note. A letter in writing must be provided at that time.

All Refunds are done by purchase orders and then checks will be mailed out. It takes three to five weeks to receive a refund. This procedure includes registrations paid by credit card.
