Winter Fitness & Exercise Classes

Where: L.V. Senior Center (Rock Spring Park)

Circuit Craze Fitness Class – Total body workout circuit style.  Maximize calorie burn and total body training. Circuits Craze is a fun and fast-paced class designed to get your heart pumping and keeps you engaged. This is done through a series of full body circuits or stations that are a mix of cardio and strength training, no longer than a minute each. Exercises are changed week - to-week to keep the class exciting. This class is great for anyone and everyone, for there are always ways to modify the exercises so everyone can participate. For this class you will need to bring some equipment- 2 medium-weighted dumbbells/weights (5, 6, or 7 lbs. each). Instructor: Karen Leyson

Let’s Move w/Cardio Dance – Upper body strength and core work to increase strength for daily tasks. We will grapevine, samba, sashay and more! The easy-to-follow program allows anyone any age to perform the moves. For this class you will need a set of light dumbbells 3-5lbs and a yoga mat. Instructor: Kim Rainforth

Low Impact Strength & Cardio Interval Training – AWESOME way to strengthen the entire body. We will strengthen and tone our muscles. We will work our cardiorespiratory endurance. All of this will be done in intervals! We will be in motion the entire hour! For this class you will need to bring some equipment-2 medium-weighted dumbbells (5, 6, or 7 lbs. each), and a yoga mat. Focus Fitness – This fitness class will focus on a different part of your body each week. The focus will be total body one week, then upper body, core, lower body, stability and strength as well as improving your cardiorespiratory endurance along the way. The focus and workout will change weekly. All you need to join in on the fun is a mat and a set of medium weight dumbbells. Instructor: Karen Leyson

“One big thing that people tend to lack is the basic skills that are needed to defend themselves in hostile or dangerous situations. Taking the effort and time out to learn these lifesaving skills can be one of the smartest things that someone does.”

Washington Township Police Department and Recreation, would like to introduce a “Self-Defense Class” to High School 9th through 12th grade students.  “Self-defense is defined as the right to prevent suffering force or violence through the use of a sufficient level of counteracting force or violence.” There are 4 Self-defense & Safety tips all high school students should know!  The first one is to enroll in a Self-Defense class. 

This class will demonstrate physical techniques, security tips, and how to avoid potentially dangerous situations.   Instructors, Sergeant Brian Bigham & Detective John Wuetemburg will demonstrate helpful information that teaches a mix of physical skills and life lessons.  This FREE three day session begins on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 4:30pm- 5:30pm and continues on Jan. 29th & ends on Feb. 5th.  It will take place at the Washington Township Police Department, 1 East Springtown Road. We only have limited space available so register before January 15, 2018.

The Washington Township Recreation Department has made arrangements with Santa to accept mail for delivery to the North Pole beginning November 13, 2017.

Township youngsters are encouraged to write a letter to Santa not with just a Christmas list but with any achievements they may have accomplished. Parents may either place the letter in the red drop box at the Recreation Department, Washington Twp. Public Library, or mail it to: Washington Township Recreation, 50 Rock Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853, Attn: Santa Claus.

All letters should include the child’s first and last name and complete return address so that a response may be mailed. LETTERS must be in the recreation office by December 15, 2017 (no exceptions).

Youngsters will receive a personalized reply from Santa, by Christmas. For more information, please call (908) 876-5941

Register for Programs

Program Registration Procedure

You may register in in person, online or by mail.  The Recreation office is open Monday– Friday 8am-4pm (except summer hours). A registration form must be properly filled out, signed and submitted with your payment and also when processing payments online(receipt must be attached).  For more information please click on the link:  Procedure

Refund Policy

There are NO REFUNDS on any of our programs except for the following:

Full refunds will be issued for any program cancelled by the Recreation Dept.

Refunds will be given for medical issues related to that activity when accompanied by a doctor’s note. A letter in writing must be provided at that time.

All Refunds are done by purchase orders and then checks will be mailed out. It takes three to five weeks to receive a refund. This procedure includes registrations paid by credit card.
